Work, Church, and a Tag

Last Monday I started my new job at the University of Michigan hospital. After over a month off since my last job in St. George ended, this was a big change. I had been 'livin in up' and traveled all over trying to get as much in as possible until my next job started. Is it possible to love your job, but hate to actually work? Well, that's me. Oh well. Once I get back into the swing of it, I'm sure I'll enjoy it much more.
I've been reading the July Ensign article on using the Internet as a tool to share and expand the gospel, so I thought I'd implement it on my blog. After meeting some girls at work, and them finding out I moved here from Utah, naturally you get asked the 'So, are you Mormon?' question, among others.
The other day one girl asked me why Mormons get married so early and why they have so many kids. Yikes! How would you respond?

Answer #1: We really believe in families and the importance of them. Getting married and having children is just part of that.

Answer #2: Make it into a joke......Really, is 19 that young? And, who doesn't want 10 kids??

Answer #3: That often is the case but not everyone gets married really young and has tons of kids right off the bat. My brother is 31 and he's not married. ( try to smooth over the misconception that you HAVE to get married young if you're LDS )

So, help me out, would ya? What would you honestly say?

Now, to play along with a tag from my sister in law, Emily. Mine isn't nearly as witty as hers but here goes.

3 Joys:
- answering questions about the church from co-workers
- being a good example and missionary
- my own little missionary that went to Germany

3 Fears:
- having to work every day for the rest of my life
- not doing my very best
- airplane crashes

3 Obsessions:
- washing my hands
- over-analyzing seemingly simple questions
- vacuuming

3 Random Facts:
- I originally wanted to be a dental hygienist but my dad talked me into becoming a nurse instead
- I wanted to go on a mission and took mission prep 3 times, then got married
- I don't like olives

I'm glad it's you and not me. It's so funny to have to answer questions about the church that are just kind of custom and not really religon. Take them back to adam and eve days... Myltiply and replenish thing... lol

I wish we weren't selling it either!!! But Chase and I both think we need to down size.......especially since we won't be having kids any time soon!!!! Plus with the market the way it is, I think it would be better to get off our hands!!!! Do you like your new hospital???

I like your your options for answering the marriage question..you are so witty :0) When I get back from Utah we should get together and hang out and stuff. I think it would be fun. (I feel like that sounded like a year book entry, but I'm keeping it because I do think we should hang out and there is nothing wrong with year books, or entries)

I really liked a combo of both Ans 1 and Ans 3 because it does dispell the myth as well as explains the main reasoning behind why people tend to be so pro-active about getting married and having children. And not only that but sometimes the kids thing just kind of happens and you almost don't have control over that aspect.

We miss you guys!
