We just returned from a family vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and we had a blast! We think this is going to be a tradition for our family each summer because we all want to go back again. It was kind of a default vacation--for the two weeks prior to this we tried and tried to catch a flight out to LAX, with absolutely no luck. We were bummed that we weren't able to see my family, but tried to make the most of it by heading to the east coast beaches instead. The flights all looked like they had room, so we went for it and got on the first try! Standby is such a gamble. It felt like all odds were against us to get out to Cali. Being able to catch a flight down to Hilton Head gave us a little more faith in the standby flying system after having been rejected so many times before. Just a little.
Anyway, Jake and James LOVED the beach. Jake especially. He sat there in the sand playing and being content for longer than I have ever seen him content in his life. It was awesome. James liked to explore--he would follow the dogs walking on the beach and go stand in someone's family picture with them. We all got some needed sunshine. We ate delish seafood (including the boys). We were just happy to be on the beach together as a family and not have to work!

Linds--that looks awesome. Some of our friends went a month ago and also loved it. Maybe next year we can meet you there :)
Sorry you didn't get to be with your family. Looks like this was a great vacation though! So pretty there.
