Cocoa Beach, Florida

We had a blast on our annual family vacation--this year's destination was Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Sunday: Went to church and met some really nice people. It was rainy -hurricane Isaac was blowing through on the west side of the state and up the gulf. Enjoyed some good Mexican food.
Monday: Cape Canaveral Space Center. Met a real astronaut. Went on a simulator of what it feels like to take off and go into space. Had delicious BBQ for dinner at Sonny's. Jake loved the okra. I loved the brisket, and the fact that their cups of water are half a liter. No joke.
Tuesday: Beach! It was nice weather in the morning so we headed to the ocean. Made 'drip castles' in the sand. Matt forgot to apply sunscreen.....
Wednesday: Deseret Cattle and Citrus. Who knew the church owns practically 1/4 the land of Florida? Boys loved this because we rode on a bus and saw alligators and cows. It would be so fun to serve a senior mission there someday. Met 'Gus' the huge stuffed alligator in the family room.
Thursday: Woke up at 4am to see the rocket launch into space. Could see it from the balcony of our room and its reflection over the ocean. Really cool. Spent a lot of time at the pool trying to teach the boys to swim. James said 'I like this song' when the Carly Simon song "You're so Vain" was playing.
Friday: Packed it up, headed back home. Rode the tram at the airport several times for J &J. They threw a fit when we had to get off the employee bus in the parking lot to go to our car. A week at the beach and their highlights were right here in Detroit: trains and buses.

Gotta love family vacations with 3 little kiddos! Matt and I joked that it would have been less work and more relaxing if we had just stayed home. We really did have a great time though and now we can all say we've been to Florida!

Does this mean you didn't move? We have got to catch up one of these days.

You guys are brave to take a vacation with three little ones, but it looks like it was a success! Fun memories for your family.

Miss you.
